Exodus Ministries exists to break the chain of generational crime by reuniting female ex-offenders with their children in a loving and structured residential environment and by providing the necessary time, resources, and support for them to become productive, life-balanced citizens.

A Day in the Life of an Exodus Client

A client will progress through several stages during her stay at Exodus.  When she is initially released, the agency’s focuses on a successful reunion between the client and her children, as well as, overcoming the challenges that now face her.

During the first thirty day period, the client spends her time caring for her children and rebuilding those relationships.  Each client works with a staff member to complete the Overcomers Program (a Christian based 12-step program).  The client must also complete all court mandated classes, probation stipulations and other classes, such as courses on relationships or parenting.  Each client is responsible for maintaining their own apartment, preparing meals for their family and helping with community chores, such as sweeping sidewalks or cleaning the offices.

After the client’s initial thirty day reintroduction, their children are enrolled in child care programs through the Vogel Alcove.   When this transition occurs, the client’s focus shifts to preparing herself for long-term employment.  She will take classes, prepare for interviews and begin her job search.

Upon gaining employment, the client’s focus will shift to successfully balancing her new job and family skills.  She will learn to begin a savings account and work to maintain her employment.  After 12 months and upon successful completion of the program, she will use these skills to continue to support herself and her children.
