Apartment Make-Ready
Enjoy decorating? Small groups are needed to set up, paint, and decorate apartments for resident move-in. Donated furniture and household items are available at the Exodus facility. If desired, a group can adopt an apartment and be responsible for make-ready each time a graduate moves out. Organization of Stored DonationsHas God gifted you with great organizational skills? Exodus has a storage unit that holds clothes and household items for the residents. It needs to be organized and inventoried on an ongoing basis. This is one example of a wonderful group project. TeachersAre you good at teaching and have a heart for helping people? Teachers are needed to teach classes such as: Bible study, budgeting, parenting, spiritual growth, self-esteem improvement, basic computer skills, relationship skills, etc. The classes are typically 8-12 weeks long, one night a week. Classes are held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights from 7 PM to 8 PM. ChildcareLove kids? Individuals are needed to facilitate Bible studies for children on Thursday evenings and childcare on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:50 PM to 8:15 PM. The most important aspect of this volunteer opportunity is to provide loving and caring Christ-like encouragement to children ages 1-11 who are recovering from the disruptions that have been a part of their lives. MentorsFemale mentors are needed to mentor, encourage, and share their love and life experiences with a resident. A few visits or outings a month makes a world of difference to the Exodus women and children who are in such need of Christ-centered modeling. |
Creative Skills
Has God gifted you with creativity that you want to use to glorify God? Photography - If you love taking pictures, Exodus needs photographers to take family pictures of residents. Please provide frames for family portraits, as many women do not own any. Extra prints would also be greatly appreciated by the residents. Arts & CraftsAre you crafty? Volunteers with special skills can teach family art projects or have a scrapbooking night for the residents so they can cherish family memories. MakeoversLadies who enjoy giving makeovers are needed to help boost the residents’ self-esteems. This can include, but is not limited to: haircuts, manicures, pedicures, spa days, face care classes, facials, make-up application classes, and styling tips for professional and everyday dress, etc. ITAre you technology savvy? Exodus needs volunteers that can help with basic technology support as needed in the office. PartiesDo you like 'fiestas?" Well come get your "party" on! Volunteers can help plan and orchestrate birthday and/or holiday parties for the residents. Creativity encouraged. You can plan a themed event, bake a cake, bring goody bags, or play games if you wish. Family OutingsWant a distraction? Get out of the house and take some families along with you who will appreciate the opportunity to get out and have some fun! Sponsors are needed to provide fun family outings for the mothers and children. This can include, but is not limited to: tickets to local events and/or field trips to the state fair, spas, sporting events, concerts, faith-based events, parks, gyms, zoos, holiday events, expos, etc. |
